Mary L. Pollard died suddenly on Tuesday October 8, 2008, at the age of 89 from a stroke. She was a resident of Pigeon Forge ,TN. Born and raised in Ellwood City, Pa she was a daughter of the late Horace, and Elizabeth Cartwright Abbaticchio and was a graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1937.
Mrs. Pollard operated a tax preperation business in Warren, OH, for many years and owned rental properties in Tennessee, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Earlier, she worked in accounting for organizations in California and Taiwan. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her large extended family, and hosted reunions at her home in Pigeon Forge, TN and in Ellwood City for more than 100 descendants of Archangelo Raffale Abbaticchio.
Mrs. Pollard is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, John Burke of Pigeon forge, TN, and Dr. Don, & Margaret Hindman of Frederick, MD ; two sisters, Anne Ursu of Ellwood City, and Dorothy Campbell of Bumpass, VA ; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents ; three brothers Horace "Pink", Jack, and Bob Abbaticchio, and husband William Pollard. Previous marriages to Kenneth Hindman and Carleton Burke ended in divorce.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 11, 2008, at noon, with the family receiving family and friends from 10 am until noon.
Internment will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest a contribution in Mrs. Pollard's memory be made to the Ellwood City Library.
