Yolanda DeNome , 88

Mrs. Yolanda DeNome, 88, of 26 Franklin Ave., Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening at 6:50 pm at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford surrounded by her family.

Mrs. DeNome was born on July 14, 1921 in the Village of Todi in the region of Perugia, Italy to the late Leondro Castellani, and Maria Ceccarelli Castellani. Yolanda was a member of the Lincoln High Class of 1939. She had worked at the Ellwood City Knitting Mill for many years as an inspector. Yolanda was an active member of the Holy Redeemer Church where she volunteered countless hours at the Holy Redeemer School cafetaria and the annual Church Bazaar. She also belonged to the Christian Mothers of Holy Redeemer Church, and the Golden Agers group. During the Fourth of July Festival she could be found helping at the Ellwood City Wolves Club booth. Yolanda enjoyed playing bingo, doing yard work, and gardning.

Mrs. DeNome is survived by two daughters and son in laws ; Mary Kay & Donald Buzard of Ellwood City, Elaine & Gerald Cortez of Wayne Twp., one son and daughter in law; Louis A., & Sandra DeNome of New Wilmington, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one brother; Carl Castellani of Ellport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Anthony "Tony" DeNome whom she married on October 19, 1942 and passed away on March 31, 1987, and a brother Sam Castellani, Sr..

Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 10, 2010 from 4-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home Inc..

A mass of christian burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the Holy Redeemer Church. Internment will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Thursday by 9:50 am to form an honor guard. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:20 am as the procession to church will begin to leave at 9:30 am.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Redeemer School Angel Fund or to the Ellwood City Area Public Library.
