Henry A. Mancini Mr. Henry A. Mancini, 85, of 1033 Beachwood Blvd., Ellwood City passed away at his residence on Wednesday January 21, 2009 at 2:20 pm.

Mr. Mancini was born on August 21, 1923 in Ellwood City to the late Eutimo Mancini & Caroline Lanza Mancini. Henry had played football and baseball for Lincoln High School and was a member of the class of 1941. A U.S. Navy World War II veteran , he served from November 9, 1942 until February 24, 1946 as a motor machinist mates first class on the USS SC 748 and USS PC 1134, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and Philippine Liberation of which he was awarded 7 Bronze Stars. Following his enlistment with the US Navy, Henry played football for the Ellwood City Bolt Busters as a Fullback having worn #33.
Mr. Mancini worked as a self employed bricklayer, and was employed by the Matthews Conveyor Co. for 25 years as a machine shop supervisor until 1974, and then for the American Steele Co. from 1974 to 1976. He had then attended the Slippery Rock University and the University of Pittsburgh where he earned his Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Building Trades. Upon receiving his Teaching certification, Henry became a teacher with the Beaver Valley Vo-Tech from 1976 until 1989. After which he worked as a zoning officer for the Borough of Ellwood City and the Lawrence County Housing Authority from 1989 until retiring in 1994.
Mr. Mancini was a member of the Holy Redeemer Church, sang with the Purification BVM Church Men's Choir and the Purification BVM Church Choir. He served for 22 years on the Ellwood City Area School Board , Lawrence County Vo-Tech School Board, and the Midwestern Intermediate Unit 4 School Board out of Grove City all at the same time. Also, he was a member of the VFW post 252, American Legion post 157, the Italian-American War Veterans, MOOSE #92, Sons of Italy #608, Ellwood City Saxons Club, Kiwanis Club, the Valley Dance Club,and a past member of the Del-Mar (where he had made the first hole-in-one at the course) and Stone Crest Golf Courses. He also had enjoyed dancing, traveling, bowling, hunting, and golfing.

Survivors include his wife; Ruth D. Kiesling Mancini, one daughter and her spouse; Faith & Richard Malutich of Wayne Twp., four step daughters; Joyce Tomsic of North Sewickley Twp, Jean & Ed Stover of Beaver Falls , Susan & Roy Thompson of Hermitage TN, & Maribeth Herrig of Albuquerque NM, one step son; Richard & Judy Herrig of Phoenix AR, one brother and his wife ; Joseph & Martha Mancini of Ellwood City, one sister; Emma Naticchioni of Ellwood City, a sister in law; Josephine Mancini of Ellwood City, two grandchioldren; Matthew Malutich, Jennifer Espinar, and several step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Mr. Mancini was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Fred Mancini, and a brother in law; Earl Naticchioni.

Visitation will be held on Sunday January 25, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc..

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday January 26, 2009 at 10:00 am at the Holy Redeemer Church. Internment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Those attending the Funeral Mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday by 9:20 am as the procession to church will begin to leave at 9:30 am. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the Cemetery on Monday by 10:45 to conduct full military rites.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Care Hospice, 3009 Wilmington Rd., New Castle, Pa 16105. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the Beaver Valley Medical center Staff, Dr. Lins & Staff, and the Southern Care Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Henry.

My deepest condolences to the Mancini family. We understand death for the first time when God puts His hands upon one whom we love. Yet again, our hearts cry from solitude and our souls pray for redemption. We must always have old memories and young hopes. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Henry was a fine man. I enjoyed working with him in Ellwood and during his time at Vo-Tech. He was a friend and a gentleman,dedicated to his family and to his community. May he rest in peace.
